The roughly two-hour private tour includes gear, water, lockers, and a take-home snorkel tube. Weather can limit access to the reef, and an environmental fee is extra.

“Awesome way to explore part of MUSA and literally swim with the fishes. There were so many fishes swimming around our group that I was really concerned I'd touch them (don't touch the wildlife. It's bad for them) by accident. Very cool experience! The currents and wind were pretty strong the day we went so we couldn't go into the deeper part of the area for snorkeling but it was still really cool. Irvin is a fantastic guide. He was super nice and pointed out cool things to see underwater and shared his knowledge about the reefs. Highly recommend the tour and extra, extra recommend taking the tour with Irvin!”

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 102 reviews · 5 hours (approx.) · from $135Top rated

From Isla Mujeres, certified scuba divers visit MUSA’s more than 450 underwater statues and the Manchones reef on a roughly five-hour, two-tank trip. Pocna provides equipment, fruit and water, with groups capped at 10. You might see corals, tropical fish, turtles, rays and crustaceans. Pepe and Danni are among the crew members named by past participants.

“The MUSA was fun, but the majority of the dive is to get to the statues and back. I would have loved more time looking into more detail instead of the the journey to there and back. I would also advise to let people know that a dive light would be beneficial on this tour so you can really see all the life dwelling. The dive boat was barely a dive boat, but the instructor cared a lot and if anyone works with Ponca dive center, Danni is truly kind and attentive.”

“This was an awesome activity!! I loved seeing hundreds of beautiful fish surrounding us, like we were in a giant aquarium. Our guides did a great job letting us know when we had to get ready to get into the water, and then they allowed plenty of time to leisurely look at the reef and the underwater statues. We also loved the lunch stop which was fresh grilled fish and learned it was mackerel. It was delicious! I also really appreciate they were willing to refund one of my tickets. My son got sick with a stomach bug the night before our excursion, and he could not make the event.…”

Gear, bottled water and a certified guide are included. Hotel pickup is available in Cancun’s Hotel Zone and downtown. The sea determines the day’s conditions, and turtles are wildlife, not a guarantee.

“We went as a group of four adults. We were picked up just outside our hotel, and it took around 1 hour to drive to get to the marina. The snorkeling took about 2 hours, and another hour to return, so about 4 hours total time. The water is absolutely gorgeous - so clear! We ended up seeing 2 different turtles, a lot of coral, and a ton of really cool fish. The shipwreck was our group's favorite. Bring sunscreen, a swimsuit, a change of clothes, towels, and SOCKS! Wearing socks under our flippers would probably have saved us from some blisters. We would have really liked to bring an…”
